Kukri Machetes

Some of the famous knives of the world such as the Bowie Knife, the Stiletto, the Scimitar, the Roman Sword, the Machete and so on have all, at one time or the other, played great historical roles as formidable weapons with men have demonstrated raw power and courage during times of battle. The Khukuri, however, outdoes them all! The great romance and the extra ordinary accounts of bravery that this knife evokes are legendary and historic.

Khukuri or Kukri? 1st the name itself...
There are two major names for this knife that are now universally accepted, “Khukuri” and “Kukri”. After going through a series of names since someone first tried to speak, pronounce or write when it was first encountered or discovered in the early 1600’s “Khukuri” became the strict Nepalese version that is a very common, famous, and a household name in Nepalese literature. However, Khukuri is more known as “Kukri” in the western world and beyond which we see is an anglicized version of the British when they first discovered the knife. "Khukri" is more commonly used in India and her neighbors (Indian subcontinent). Now its slanged as khukri, kukkri, kokri, kukuri, kookuri, kookri and so on...

A mid-length curved knife comprising a distinctive “Cho” that is the national knife and icon of Nepal, basic and traditional utility knife of Nepalese, a formidable and effective weapon of the Gurkhas and an exquisite piece of local craftsmanship that symbolizes pride and valor which also represents the country and it’s culture.

The honor and identity of the country in straight and simple terms...

Basically carried in a leather case, mostly having walnut wooden grip and traditionally having two small knives, it is one of the most famous and feared knives of the world.

Kukri Machetes Overview

Machetes for Gardening, Bushcraft and Outdoor Use

Garden Machetes

A garden machete is one of the most practical tools you can own for clearing overgrown areas, cutting back hedges, and managing thick vegetation. Unlike secateurs or loppers, a gardening machete handles dense brambles, ivy, and woody stems in a single pass. We stock garden machetes with blade lengths from 30cm up to 55cm, all with ergonomic handles designed to reduce hand fatigue during extended use. If you are looking for a machete for gardening that can handle everything from light pruning through to clearing neglected plots, this collection has you covered. Our gardening machetes ship from the UK and are legal to purchase for legitimate use.

Bushcraft and Survival Machetes

For outdoor use beyond the garden, our bushcraft machetes are built for trail clearing, camp setup, wood processing, and general survival tasks. A bushcraft machete needs to be tough enough to handle repetitive chopping without losing its edge, and light enough to carry on a hike without adding unnecessary weight. We carry carbon steel and stainless steel options across a range of blade profiles. Kukri style blades are weighted forward for heavier chopping, while straight blade machetes give more control for finer cuts. If you are after a survival machete for camping, hiking, or bushcraft trips in the UK, browse the collection above and check the blade specs on each product page.

Blade Styles and Materials

Every machete in this collection is built from either high carbon steel or stainless steel. Carbon steel holds a sharper edge and is easier to resharpen in the field, but needs oiling to prevent rust. Stainless steel requires less maintenance and resists corrosion, making it a better choice for wet conditions. Blade shapes vary from the classic straight machete through to kukri, bolo, and parang profiles, each designed for different cutting tasks. Handles are wrapped rubber, moulded polymer, or wood depending on the model, all designed for a secure grip in wet or dry conditions.

Buying a Machete in the UK

Machetes are legal to buy and own in the UK for legitimate purposes including gardening, bushcraft, outdoor work, and collection. They are classified as tools, not weapons, provided they are purchased and used for a lawful reason. You must be 18 or over to buy a machete. We ship all machetes from our shop in Scarborough, North Yorkshire via Parcelforce 48. UK orders over £200 qualify for free delivery. If you are looking for a specific machete knife or blade style that is not listed on the site, get in touch and we will see what we can source.
