The daisho was the paired katana and wakizashi carried by Japanese warriors as a symbol of rank and readiness. Steel Types and Forging
Our handmade katana range uses high carbon steel in 1060 and 1095 grades. The Minamoto collection features clay tempered blades with a visible hamon temper line, full tang construction through the handle, and folded steel layering for strength. These are forged using traditional Japanese techniques and balanced for cutting practice and tameshigiri (test cutting on tatami mats). For collectors who want the look without the edge, our stainless steel range offers the same visual detail at a lower price point.

We carry both functional and decorative Japanese swords. Functional katana are built from sharpened hand forged steel, suitable for martial arts training in disciplines like iaido and kenjutsu.
