In the Highlander franchise, the protagonist Connor MacLeod (Christopher Lambert) is famous for wielding two distinct legendary swords during his immortal life.
The Dragon-Head Masamune Katana
This is Connor’s primary and most iconic weapon, which he uses throughout the 1986 film and its sequels. Forged in 593 BC by the legendary Japanese swordsmith Masamune. It was originally a wedding gift for Connor's mentor, Juan Sánchez-Villalobos Ramírez.
How He Got It: Connor claimed the sword in 1547 following Ramírez's death at the hands of the Kurgan.
The Hilt: A distinctive ivory (or faux-ivory) handle carved into the shape of a dragon’s head with a gaping mouth at the pommel. Allegedly folded over 200 times, creating a blade of "diamond-hard" strength and surgical sharpness.
The original blade was shattered by the Immortal Kane in 1995; Connor subsequently reforged it using ancient high-carbon steel provided by his second mentor, Nakano.
Connor's and Duncan's katanas are both dragon-headed, but differ in origin, maker, and appearance, with Connor's being the original ivory-handled sword from Ramirez (Masamune forged), while Duncan's (Masahiro forged) appeared longer, with a distinct dragon head/guard and resin handle, though early lore sometimes confusingly suggested they were the same sword before Highlander: Endgame showed them as separate.
