What an absolute thing of beauty... I've been looking for a proper Gandalf staff for ages, while desperately trying to avoid the lightweight, cheap-looking efforts that appear all over the internet. I'm going to fancy dress as Gandalf and, having already spent a frankly unnecessary amount of time and money getting a decent, authentic-looking costume made, I reached the entirely reasonable conclusion that I needed a proper staff to finish it off. Then I found this. It wasn't cheap. You shall not pass... without first passing over a fairly respectable amount of money. But would I spend it again? Absolutely. It's far better than I hoped. It has a lovely, substantial weight to it and just feels right in your hand. The construction is excellent and it's obvious some thought has gone into how the different sections fit together, including small details that help disguise the joins. It doesn't feel like a cheap fancy-dress prop. It feels like something that has been designed by somebody who actually gives a damn. The height is spot on too. I'm 6ft and it's around my height, so once you're holding it with the full costume on, there's a very real danger of becoming unbearably pleased with yourself. In short, I genuinely couldn't recommend it more. Delivery was excellent as well. It arrived only a few days after ordering, despite the original estimate suggesting it might take longer. Apparently, a wizard arrives precisely when he means to. Finally, some context. I'm a tight, working-class, northern, middle-aged man, so describing anything I've bought on the internet as "worth every penny" does not come naturally. But this genuinely is one of the best internet purchases I've ever made. If you're a Gandalf fan, you're looking at it and you're trying to talk yourself into buying it... Just buy the bloody thing. Don't be a fool of a Took.
